They say ‘good things happen to those who wait’
Posted on: Thursday, March 18th, 2010We have all been waiting and waiting… those who took on the challenge of renovating an old building in Old City, gallery artists, our families, friends in and out of the art community…but now something good is finally happening! I am so excited about the metamorphosis of a new gallery space, about being on 2nd street and to once again work with so many of the artists I’ve grown to love and respect over the years.
The closing of Gallery Siano was a disappointment to all of us. We weren’t quite sure what was happening or when. Over the months as I met periodically with the artists, I was inspired by their incredible perseverance and creativity in the face of nothing happening, no exhibitions to look forward to, just spending long lonely hours in the studio, in their heads, contemplating the next direction, the next step and then ‘going for it’ on the canvas or paper or board. When driving away from the studio, I frequently was crazed with the frustration of not being able to honor their dedication and work with an exhibition space.
Those moments are over, the construction is behind us, the transformation of this old building into a modern new gallery is a delight to my eyes and I will be even more delighted when those sterile white walls are the back drop to the visual creations borne out of two rather unsettling years.
Please visit the gallery, greet the artists, see their work and celebrate with us this new and exciting opportunity! It is well worth the wait! Hope to see you soon.
